Foo Fighters: Back And Forth – Movie Review

Let me start off by saying you probably won’t be interested in this movie or review if you aren’t really a Foo Fighters fan, but if you are an openminded person this movie will change your whole opinion of Dave Grohl and the band that he created. Back And Forth centres on the greatest rock band around today, Foo Fighters, it travels back to Grohl’s experiences withNirvana from the creation to the fame to the heartbreak. The film then moves on to take us on the journey of the creation of the phenomenal rock band, Foo Fighters. As you can probably tell already I am a Foo Fighters fan, before watching this movie I liked them a lot but after viewing this documentary I fell in love with them and now a massive fan. Hopefully this film can convert you too.

The documentary doesn’t follow the typical formula, instead of having a single person narrating a collection of clips the story is told through a series of interviews with current and former band members. I felt as though this adds a very personal feel to the film as you hear the stories first hand from the people who actually experienced it.

The last act of the movie is centred on the creation of their new album, Wasting Light, which in my opinion their best album and it is throughly interesting to see the complete process that they went through to make it. I feel as though this is the best part of the whole movie is as it moves away from the interviews and it becomes more driven by footage from Grohl’s personal studio which gives you a glimpse into the bands personal lives.

While watching there were a few parts that really stood out for me, the first being when William Goldsmith found out that Grohl had rerecorded all the drums on one album. This moment made me finally see that even the nicest man in rock – Grohl – can do horrible things. The second was of course when Foo Fighters reached their prime, when they played their biggest gig at Wembley, this was the moment were you think “woah, they really are the best band in the world!” The final moment was the production of the song I Should Have Known, this is personally my favourite song on their new album because through the song and in this documentary you can see that this song is so thoughtful and has come from so deep inside Grohl. I have so much respect for him for what he has been through and all that hardship comes through in this section of the movie.

If you aren’t a Foo Fighters fan I would still highly recommend this to you, if you are at all a fan of music and it’s creation I can guarantee you will love this movie as much as I did and afterwards you will realise how many astonishing songs they really have and you will want to go back and visit their whole discography.

‘Muppets’ Sequel

It has been announced today that plans are going forward to make a sequel to recent 2011 film The Muppets. For people who are big fans of The Muppets this is great news, especially seeing as they did such a great job with the first one. It is unsure whether Jason Segel is returning to write or star but I really hope he returns as I thought he did a brilliant job bringing the series back to life.

I think this is great news but what do you think? Feel free to tell me all your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for reading.

‘Neighbourhood Watch’ Teaser Trailer

A teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming Seth Rogen written movie Neighbourhood Watch. It centres on a group of suburban dads that form a neighbourhood watch group in order to get some free time away from their families, which leads them to discover a plan to destroy the earth. Neighbourhood Watch stars Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade, they are all extremely funny guys and I can’t wait to see them take on their roles. The premise of this film seems pretty poor but I am just going to watch it just to see Richard Ayoade because I love him. Neighbourhood Watch hits theatres on 27th July (USA) and 22nd August (UK) and you can check out the teaser trailer below.

‘That’s My Boy’ Red-Band Trailer

A new trailer for the upcoming Adam Sandler film, That’s My Boy has been released online. That’s My Boy focusses on a father and son, when the father moves in with his some and his soon to be wife just before their wedding and as you can tell things don’t go smoothly. That’s My Boy stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, James Caan, Milo Ventimiglla and Susan Sarandon. I am really not looking forward to this movie, from the trailer it looks like yet another seriously poor Adam Sandler movie that everyone will go and see but somehow people will still like it. If you want to you can check out That’s My Boy in theatres on 15th June (USA) and 7th September (UK) and for once I don’t care about the long gap in the release dates because I do not care about this film one bit. You can check out the trailer below.

Yes, it really does look that shit. What do you think? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks again for reading and if you enjoyed this post please hit that like and follow button to show me some love.

Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’ Trailer!

The teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s upcoming black and white children’s animated movie Frankenweenie has been released online. Frankenweenie centres on Victor who conducts a science experiment in order to bring his dog back from the dead, only to face extreme consequences. Frankenweenie stars the voices of Winona Ryder, Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara. I think this film looks good and will be good because it’s Tim Burton but I’m really unsure about how much this film will appeal to kids seeing as it is in black and white; but it looks like we will have to wait and see. You can see Frankenweenie in theatres on October 5th 2012 (UK+USA) and you can check out the trailer below.

What do you think? Do you think this could grab the attention of children? Feel free to tell me in the comments below. Thanks again for reading and if you enjoyed this post please feel free to hit that like and follow button to show me some love.

Buy A Blu-Ray A Week – USA

Blu-ray To BUY

Hugo – I absolutely loved this movie and I know everyone else who views it will too. Hugo goes back to the birth of cinema in a way that I never would have expected to see, when going into this movie I thought that it would just be a children’s movie but it really isn’t, this is a movie for the whole family and it is pure brilliance. It is beautifully shot with some great shots throughout a vintage train station, of course it was going to beautiful it is done by the phenomenal Martin Scorsese. I can’t describe how much I loved this film, I will be rooting for this film on Oscar night and I hope it swoops all the awards away from The Artist. I would recommend this to anyone, so go out there on Tuesday and buy it.

Blu-ray To AVOID

Johnny English Reborn – When I was younger I used to really enjoy the first Johnny English, as a kids movie it wasn’t dreadful but this one you can feel that this series really didn’t need a sequel. This film seriously fails to capture the amazing talent that is Rowan Atkinson but some people say you will only like this movie if you like Rowan Atkinson which could be true but I love Rowan Atkinson and I hated this movie. I would recommend this to young children but definitely no-one above the age of twelve.

All these titles are released on Tuesday 28th February. What will you be picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you very much for reading and if you enjoyed this post please feel free to hit that like and follow button to show me some love.
