The Muppets – I absolutely loved this movie, it was hugely entertaining and is guaranteed to be enjoyed by anyone. When I first heard about this movie I thought it would be awful, and all of the spoof trailers really weren’t convincing me. Because I love Jason Segel and The Muppets I thought I would give it a chance and I’m glad I did. This film is beyond joyful and I highly recommend this to everyone, especially fans of The Muppets.

Carnage – Now don’t get me wrong I id enjoy Carnage but I was extremely let down as I thought it could shave been so much better. This film is short clocking it at one hour and twenty minutes but the film feels like it is around two hours and that isn’t really a good thing. I chose to put this in the section you should buy because I know a lot of people that loved it but I was just a little let down, you might not be though.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – Now to another movie that I absolutely loved, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was a great remake thats is dark, twisted and extremely fast paced. This movie isn’t for the feint hearted, it does contain some extremely brutal scenes that are not to be viewed by children. It is filled with great performances and it is definitely worth your time. Don’t be daunted by it’s two hour and forty minute run time, it goes extremely quickly all due to it’s astonishing fast paced editing. If you loved the books and the original then you will love this one and if you just generally love movies then you will love it.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy –  This is a fantastic film with phenomenal performances throughout from the brilliant Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy and so many more. The storyline of this film is a little complex and you could find your self getting a bit lost but its still not a complex as inception the first time round. The film is also quite slow, I think that you need to be quite interested in British spies to really appreciate the pure quality of this movie. But it really is a great shame that is one of many films that has been completely snubbed by the Academy Awards.

Blu-Rays To AVOID

The Sitter – Please don’t go anywhere near this movie, this is a perfect example as to why people think that Jonah Hill can’t act. This film is supposed to be a comedy but I did not laugh once, it is extremely unfunny and incredibly boring. I really wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, so please save yourself and never watch this pile of garbage.

All of the above Blu-rays are released on Tuesday 20th March 2012. So which ones will you be picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you very much for reading.

Moneyball – I really liked Moneyball, I didn’t love it as much as others did but I still thought it was an engaging drama with some really great acting. This is one of Brad Pitt’s finest performances and most definitely Jonah Hill’s best, in this film I found out he really can act. Moneyball is a smart soulful baseball movie that everyone will love. You don’t have to know anything about baseball going into this movie, you could the baseball and still completely love this movie, thats how good it is.

Take Shelter – This film was utter brilliance, Michael Shannon’s acting in this film will blow you away, he gives an in-depth emotional performance that deserves some sort of recognition. I can see some people not liking this film as it isn’t filled with action and violence but if you enjoy an astonishing drama with phenomenal acting then this will be right up your ally.

Tower Heist –  I was debating whether to put this film under buy or avoid but I decided to put it here for quite a few reasons. Tower Heist is about a group of workers who lose all their money because their investor committed fraud so they conspire to rob the man who lost them all their money. I did quite enjoy this movie, it is Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy’s best movie in a while and that’s why I think it is worth a buy, I think this could be the return of good old Murphy and Stiller. If you aren’t a Stiller or Murphy fan then this obviously isn’t the movie for you but if you are a fan this is a great buy.

The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn –  If you have ever wondered what it would look like if Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg – two of the greatest directors of all time – did a motion capture movie then this is that movie. Tintin is a fast paced stunningly beautiful picture that can be enjoyed by the whole family. I’m not the biggest fan of this style of film as I struggle to gain a relationship with the characters and they seem as though they lack heart but if you can get over that then you will love this movie. I highly recommend this to anyone who was a huge fan of the original cartoons or comics as you will not be disappointed and will be constantly on the edge of your seat.

Bly-Rays To AVOID

Machine Gun Preacher – Now let me start by saying I know some people that really liked this movie, I did not. Butler performs just as good as usual but that is one of the only positives in this movie. The biggest negative is the editing, this movie dragged a lot, it could have easily been half an hour shorter to stop this movie feeling as though it’s sole purpose was to cram it with facts. I didn’t like this movie so I obviously wouldn’t recommend it but I do know people that like it so it could be right up your ally.

All of the above blu-rays will be released on Monday 19th March 2012. Which ones will you be picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks again for reading.

Melancholia – This film isn’t to everyones taste but I really loved Melancholia. This film is incredibly beautiful and it is impossible to be slightly moved by the smaller events that take place within a grander scale. This film is quite slow and this slow tempo may cause many viewers to be turned off but trust me that slow pace is worth it as this film is a true masterpiece. I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone as I know quite a few people who will hate this film but when you watch the trailer (click on the image below) and you enjoy it then you will most probably love this wonderful film.

The Descendants – I’m quite annoyed that The Descendants didn’t win more Oscars, in the end it only took home one for Adapted Screenplay, I feel as though George Clooney should have taken away the Oscar for Best Actor but it wasn’t to be. I really liked this film and thought that Clooney’s performance was the best of 2011 and should have received some recognition. This is my favourite Alexander Payne film, it is so sweet yet sad at the same time. I would recommend this to every person that I lay eyes upon, it really is a great film.

My Week With Marilyn – Another brilliant Oscar worthy film is released this week in the USA. My Week With Marilyn is a light charming affair that centres on the multitalented woman Marilyn Monroe. This film is worth a watch just see the great performances from Kenneth Branagh and Michelle Williams. The film does feel a little puny compared the the astounding performance Williams delivers. If you are a Monroe fan this film is right up your ally but even if you aren’t this film is still worth your time, just for the astonishing acting and the interesting subject matter.

Young Adult – I haven’t actually had the chance to see Young Adult, it wasn’t actually screening in my local cinema which I was quite gutted about. I have heard so many good things about this movie, especially regarding Charlize Theron’s performance, it has been said that she is absolutely astounding. I will have to wait till this is out in the UK to check it out but I most definitely will be watching this one, and from what I have heard you should too.

Blu-Rays To AVOID

The Three Musketeers – Oh my, there is a lot of bad movies released this week. I mean what can I say about The Three Musketeers, well it is bad, very very bad. It’s filled with poor acting, diabolical action scenes mixed with an extremely messy plot. It seems as though the film makers were attempting to mimic the style and shit quality of the Pirates Of The Caribbean series and they pulled it off but made it seem ten times worse. Please for the love of God don’t go near this movie with a barge pole.

Happy Feet Two – I along with many other people really enjoyed the first Happy Feet movie but I along with everyone else was extremely disappointed with this movie. Now Happy Feet Two may be a great movie for you to stick on in front of your children to keep them quite but I highly doubt that anyone over the age of ten will actually enjoy this movie. After watching the first Happy Feet I really wasn’t craving a sequel and I really wish that they didn’t make it, I was so disappointed.

All these titles are released on Tuesday 13th March. What will you be picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you very much for reading and if you enjoyed this post please feel free to hit that like and follow button to show me some love.

The Help – I loved this film, I thought it tackled a difficult subject but was fulfilled astonishingly. The acting in The Help is absolutely astounding, with phenomenal performances from, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain. The Help does have many flaws but that doesn’t stop it being a beautiful little story filled with amazing acting. This is a great watch that can be viewed by the whole family and it is definitely worth your time.

This Is England 88′ – In my eyes this is one of the greatest British television series that has been produced in years, it is absolutely phenomenal. This Is England 88′ is a spin-off from the brilliant movie This Is England, the series still focuses on just as dark troubling issues as the film, varying from racism, to rape, to suicide. These dark issues are what make this show such an intriguing drama along with the breathtaking acting from young British actors that I wish we could see in many more films. This Is England 88′ may not be for everyone as it does focus on some dark issues but it really is a great 1980’s drama that everyone should at least give ago.

My Week With Marilyn – Another brilliant Oscar worthy film is released this week in the UK.

Jane Eyre – Yes, this is another take on the classic tale Jane Eyre, but this one is actually pretty good. This is yet another film this week that has absolutely brilliant acting throughout, Mia Wasikowska delivers her finest performance yet, I think it can safely be said that she makes a better Jane than Alice. Jane Eyre is over ally an extremely well made movie with great costume design, amazing acting and obviously a classically astonishing story. I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone obviously as it isn’t everyones cup of tea, but if you are into classic romance dramas this is definitely one for you to check out.

Bly-Rays To AVOID

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 – I don’t mean to offend anyone who is a Twihard fan but this film is poor, very very poor. This is by far the worst of the Twilight Saga, with the acting being the worst yet and the disturbed storyline not really suitable for its younger audience. If you are a fan of this series you my enjoy this film but if this is the first one of the series you have seen then you will leave feeling extremely disturbed and have no idea what is going on. The only people I would recommend this to is delusional teenage girls that love this series just for Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

Straw Dogs (2011) – This is a prime example of needless remakes that should have been left alone and never touched by Hollywood. Straw Dogs isn’t necessarily a badly made movie it just feels like the same movie we saw forty years ago just a lot worse and slightly less offensive. This film just feels lazy and I don’t recommend this to anyone, especially if you are a big fan of the original.

All of the films about are released on Monday 12th March so you can pick up the ones you want tomorrow. So what are you picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Contagion – I didn’t think I would like this film but it turns out I really enjoyed it. This isn’t really a film that centres on the human population being killed off but it shows how the human race would react to then end of our race. Contagion has a huge ensemble of brilliant actors and actresses featuring the wonderful talents of Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Laurence Fishburne, Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow; all of them delivering stellar performances. This was actually the scariest film I saw this year as it really showed us what would happen if disease took over the world. The only downside to this film is that it may make you extremely paranoid about germs after watching it. I loved this film and think it is one of the best disaster movies I have seen in a while, therefore I definitely recommend this film.

The Ides Of March – A gripping, intelligent and entertaining political drama that is definitely worth a watch. The Ides Of March is another George Clooney directed movie and this one is phenomenal. There are brilliant performances from the wonderful Ryan Gosling, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti and of course the astonishing George Clooney. This is a pulse racing thriller that centres around American politics, if you aren’t really into politics then this might not be for you but this film really is amazing. Just for the breathtaking performances and beautiful direction I would recommend this to everyone but if you really aren’t into politics then this won’t be for you.

Game Of Thrones Season 1 – I never actually watched Game Of Thrones, yes I know I have been told many a time that I am missing out. But don’t worry I will be picking this up soon and then I will be able to experience that critically acclaimed series. From what I have heard I would definitely recommend this to a lot of people but I can really judge until I actually give it a watch. I think that you should pick this up just because of all the buzz and acclaim that has surrounded it.

Blu-rays To AVOID

Immortals – I really really hated this movie, I wasn’t interested from any of the poster or trailers. While watching Immortals all I thought about was how much this film is trying to mimic 300, yes it has the same producers but it doesn’t mean you have to try and recreate the exact same film. To be fair to this film, it does look pretty nice, and has surprisingly great looks for such a dreadful film. It seems as though film makers can never get these sort of films right and I don’t want to see hundreds of more attempts until they make a good one. I really wouldn’t recommend this film to anyone as I hated it so much, but its your call.

The Rum Diary –  I was unsure where to put this film as I would have given it around three stars which technically means you like it but I don’t think it is worth your £15 so I would recommend it but when the price goes down or just for a rental. It does take a long time to get going and by that time a majority of the audience would have drifted off but I still thought parts were pretty funny and warm-hearted. So if you think this film s for you then you will probably like it and you should pick it up but for most people I wouldn’t recommend The Rum Diary until it is around £6 or if its on Netflix.

Anonymous –  I know a few people that actually liked this film but I thought that it was pretty poor, the acting  wasn’t the best I have ever seen the, and the best part of the whole film was the costume design which I actually thought was quite impassive. The storyline and script are bizarre and are so unbelievable, yes some people may enjoy it and like the bizarreness of it, but it just didn’t wash with me. I wouldn’t actually recommend this to anyone but if it is on television it might be worth a brief watch but please don’t waste your money on it.

All of the films about are released on Monday 5th March so you can pick up the ones you want tomorrow. So what are you picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Hugo – I absolutely loved this movie and I know everyone else who views it will too. Hugo goes back to the birth of cinema in a way that I never would have expected to see, when going into this movie I thought that it would just be a children’s movie but it really isn’t, this is a movie for the whole family and it is pure brilliance. It is beautifully shot with some great shots throughout a vintage train station, of course it was going to beautiful it is done by the phenomenal Martin Scorsese. I can’t describe how much I loved this film, I will be rooting for this film on Oscar night and I hope it swoops all the awards away from The Artist. I would recommend this to anyone, so go out there on Tuesday and buy it.

Blu-ray To AVOID

Johnny English Reborn – When I was younger I used to really enjoy the first Johnny English, as a kids movie it wasn’t dreadful but this one you can feel that this series really didn’t need a sequel. This film seriously fails to capture the amazing talent that is Rowan Atkinson but some people say you will only like this movie if you like Rowan Atkinson which could be true but I love Rowan Atkinson and I hated this movie. I would recommend this to young children but definitely no-one above the age of twelve.

All these titles are released on Tuesday 28th February. What will you be picking up this week? Feel free to tell me your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you very much for reading and if you enjoyed this post please feel free to hit that like and follow button to show me some love.

We Need To Talk About Kevin – I never got round to seeing We Need To Talk About Kevin, it wasn’t shown in my local cinema and I was extremely interested in it so I didn’t go out of my way to go and watch it. I kind of wish I had now, I have heard so much good things about this movie, and it was nominated for three BAFTA’s. I will be checking this one out and you should too.

Blu-rays To AVOID

In Time – This has to be one of my biggest disappointments of the year, this had the potential to be great, with Justin Timberlake and Cillian Murphy instead it was a massive flop. I hated this movie with a passion, the story could have been so amazing, the concept was great but they just executed it extremely poorly. The only time I would watch this movie again is if it is the only thing that is on the television. Please listen to me don’t waste you precious pounds on this pile of manure.

Paranormal Activity – I’m probably not the best judge on this film seeing as I detest the shoe Paranormal Activity series and this one is the best of a bad bunch. This film is meant to be scary but I found this film hilarious, I just thought it was funny how it tries to be scary and fails miserably, it does a better job at unintentionally being a comedy than a horror film. It just felt extremely repetitive, everyone loved found footage movies when the first two or three came along and now there are hundreds released with it being very rare that they are at all decent. I would extremely recommend not waisting your money on this incredibly bad movie.

All of the movies above are released on 27th February and as you can see I only recommend one of them. This is an extremely poor week for blu-rays in the UK but what will you be picking up? Feel free to tell me in the comments below. Thanks again for reading and if you enjoyed this post please feel free to hit that like and follow button to show me some love.
